Instead, I'm going to focus on what, to me, is even more infuriating than the teams play: the coach's inability to accept responsibility for this mess.
Listening to the post-game press conference, my jaw nearly hit the floor.
He starts it off by lamenting the fact that when the Sixes had the Pacers in the penalty, the Sixers didn't drive to the basket.
"We made some play calls to get the ball in the post and to open it up for drives to the basket, we just didn't do it", Jordan said.
Alright, maybe that was the case, nobody outside of the huddle can really know for sure. That being said, I don't see the need to point out that they called plays for it and it was the players fault for not executing, outside of trying to absolve yourself from blame. A simple "we needed to do a better job of being aggressive when they were in the penalty" would have sufficed.
Of course, had that been all Jordan said it wouldn't have garnered a post, and probably not even a mention. That was fairly tame in the world of the Eddie Jordan blame game, but it was only the beginning.
When describing the breakdown in the second half, Jordan described it as "We didn't have the energy, and we didn't have the enthusiasm, and the camaraderie you need to fight back and we didn't make winning plays. But if you have that energy and that camaraderie it gives you a little bit more confidence that your teammates are behind you and that they're pushing you."
The coach then followed it up by saying:
"I think Allen's the only guy, and maybe Elton a little bit here and there, Allen's the only guy that has a positive voice out there with some confidence and some encouragement".
When asked what he was getting from the other guys, Jordan said "Well, just non-encouragement, like just nothing. It's just something that, you don't coach that sort of thing. It's the people that you have, you've got to have that sort of confidence. That's something that's got to come from a particular person, it's just something you don't coach. And it's not that they're negative, it's just that they don't have the confidence or the energy or the wherewithal to give encouragement".
Somehow, the team (without Brand and Iverson, and perhaps more relevantly without Jordan) found the energy and camaraderie to make the playoffs the previous two years. These passive-aggressive (and, at times, full-on aggressive) shots at his players while absolving himself of blame can't be helping Jordan make any friends in the locker room, and it certainly isn't helping him make any friends with this particular sports fan.
Don't worry about playing a terrible defensive lineup down the stretch of the game that gave up 24 points in just over 9 minutes of basketball (while two of his three best defenders sat on the bench for the entire fourth quarter). If we could just find some camaraderie and encouragement, we'll be fine.
How does Andre Iguodala react to these comments? Is he the main person this is aimed towards? I've always felt the criticisms of his body language on the court were overblown, but does Eddie Jordan have a problem with it? Or am I reading too much into it?

The cynic in me says this is just more 'pre-trade' spin to make it seem like Iguodala is part of the problem so that when he's traded the sixers will be better off cause they'll have 'good guys' who 'want to win'. If no one goes to Iguodala to get his take on it, what it says to me is that the Sixers are getting close to trading Iduodala and Jordan is going to be here much longer than I want him to be.

You might be right on them giving up on Iguodala and throwing him under the bus.
IMO the bad attitudes have much to do with:
-Losing
-Irregular minutes
-Lack of faith in the coaches and organization.

Am I the only one who read Fagans weekend article - that telling comment about Jordan hurting the team from day one was interesting
Before the first game of the season, standing and watching the Sixers warm up, someone very close to management said, without pretense, that Jordan was the wrong decision. It was said with a shrug, as if the Sixers had taken the wrong exit off the highway.
The reasoning was relatively simple: Jordan's style would not immediately blend with the team's strengths, and Jordan had a habit of not playing rookies - he wouldn't play Jrue Holiday enough; the kid was the future point guard, and he needed burn.

And yes. I'm not sure whether to be happy that there's somebody in the organization that noticed this early on or sad that it was so incredibly obvious and some people (RE: the head honcho) missed it.

As much as I bash Stefanski (or at least call for his firing) all of his other decisions where rational on some level.
I've yet to hear anyone say the EJ hiring made sense- even at the time.

It does seem that Iguodala is being set up as a fall guy of sorts, and in truth he has seemed to be less than a stellar leader during his time in that role. At times he's seemed jealous and non-supportive of some of the other young guys.
If Jordan weren't such an abject moron who seems to be desperately trying to shift blame from himself, I might give this attempted diversion a second thought.

Yeah. The criticisms/comments would carry much more weight to me if they came from a more reliable source.

This is getting so old. We have such an incompentent coach that has ruined this team. Last year this team had no problems with being positive. I miss the good old days.
BTW, maybe we are having such a bad year because Elton Brand is back from being injured???????

Sorry Dean - I don't buy it - the sixers are better with Brand
The sixers are having a worse season cause the coach distributes minutes like a drunk monkey - he has no idea how to run balanced line ups out there

Derek is dead-on about this. Jordan is a complete tool. He is in so over his head it's obvious. I can't understand why he still has a job. Stefanski's inaction is unacceptable. I want them both gone. They're holding the 76'ers hostage. This is the worst season ever, and we have good players. Absurdity at it's finest.
